Rosin, derived from resin, is a rare by-product of the pine forest. Many farmers in Honduras are engaged in the large-scale production of this product, which gradually collect to accumulate the measure in a barrel that can be sent to the market. The market sector is composed of some local resins companies, which are engaged in the transformation of raw resin in its different compounds such as rosin and aguarras. Throughout its life, the economy of these small producers is also affected by the episodes of pests in the pine forests. It is for this reason that, the technical team of PGFMPH moved to the area of the municipality of Yuscarán, department of El Paraíso, to evaluate the current situation of the "Cooperativa Resinera La Guadalupe", with the purpose of inspecting the work of collecting resin and to know firsthand the information about bark beetle outbreaks that have been reported from that area. For his part, Engineer Yan You Chen, as General Manager of the PGFMPH, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), hopes that, with the results obtained in our project, it can positively impact and improve the life of the peasants who usufruct in this way the pine forests of Honduras.
